If rooms in a great house are representative of different cultures that we have lived in, many people would easily identify one or two rooms that summarize their ‘cultural’ experience. Third culture kids would probably be most comfortable in the corridor because of their experiences traversing between cultures. Third Culture Kids (or TCK), are children who spend their formative years in places that are not their parents’ or passport-issuing homeland.
Being parents in Dubai, we observe our children actively engaging these different cultures; we may or may not be aware of the challenges that accompany these transitions. Join other parents for a workshop to equip you with skills that will help you understand and parent your TCK.
Consider inviting your fellow parent friends from your children’s school and strengthen cultural skills in your social circles.
